EAPG Campbell Jones Antique Pedestal Cake Stand
This is a stunning octagonal cake stand with panels of heavy fine cut. The pattern was introduced in 1883 as the Campbell Jones pattern #83 Diamond. The pattern is also known as Heavy Paneled Fine Cut; and Square Fine Cut. The pattern has two clear octagonal bars running between large diamond fine cut. The edges of the cake stand are beveled in the corners. The edges on the cake stand and on the base have been fire polished and are smooth finished. The icing lip is clear glass as well. The cake stand is 6.5 inches tall and 11 inches across. This would be well suited for an 8-10 inch cake.
The base is octagonal with 2 stepped clear beveled edges below the fine cut design. The base is 5 inches across. The base is domed and is octagonal with polished beveled edges. There are 2 rows of fine cut diamonds and two clear stepped bands beneath the diamonds. The stem is joined to the base by a wafer located about 1 inch below the gallery.
This was a very popular pattern and was made by a number of different manufacturers: Campbell Jones, #83, 1883; Jones Cavitt & Co.; U.S. Glass Co., Diamond Glass Co., Ltd; Jefferson Glass Co, ltd. (1902). U.S. Glass continued producing this pattern after Campbell Jones joined the combine in 1891. The pattern continued to appear in U.S. Glass Catalogs as late as the 1920s.
Good condition for a 100+ year old cake stand!
